Glenn D. Bollinger of Ellis Grove
Glenn D. Bollinger, 88, of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 12:33 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, in Coulterville, Illinois.
He was born to the late Henry and Ina (nee Harmon) Bollinger on Feb. 9, 1932 in Walsh, Illinois.
Glenn married Lois Ann Heuman on Dec. 2, 1961 in Evansville, Illinois; she preceded him in death on July 4, 2005.
He worked as a service tech lineman for General Telephone/Verizon for 40 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Evansville, Illinois.
Glenn was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #3553, the American Legion Post #1172 and the Kaskaskia Lodge #86. He also served on the Sparta School Board for 13 years and held several chairs for St. John United Church of Christ in Evansville.
Glenn was a Korean War Air Force veteran and served for four years as a Rank Staff Sergeant.
He is survived by three children, Scott (Jill) Bollinger of Sparta, Jennifer Bollinger Surman of Ellis Grove and Daniel Bollinger of Ellis Grove; two grandchildren, Katherine and Deanna Bollinger; two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Katie Surman; one brother, Delbert "Doc" (Mildred) Bollinger of Waukegan, Illinois; four sisters-in-law, Marge Pautler of Red Bud, Illinois, Dorothy Gross of Evansville, Marion Jordan of Red Bud and Gloria (Emmett) Montroy Jr. of Ellis Grove; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son-in-law Jeff Surman; two brothers, Clyde Bollinger and Larry Bollinger; three brothers-in-law, Tony Pautler, Jack Gross and Boniface Jordan; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Bollinger and June Bollinger.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 19 and again 7:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, July 20 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, Illinois.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, with Kevin Hirsch officiating.
A Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Only 50 people at one time will be allowed inside the building. Visitors are asked to wear face coverings and to use social distancing guidelines.
Interment will be held at Ellis Grove City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ in Evansville.
