Floyd Earl Waller of Du Quoin

Floyd Earl Waller, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:02 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Floyd was retired from being a heavy equipment operator at Consol Burning Star #4 Mine. For the last 18 years, he worked for the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in maintenance and groundskeeping and taking care of the flowers. He was a member of UMWA and the Du Quoin Masonic Lodge.

Floyd was born on Jan. 9, 1945 at Du Quoin, the son of William and Lorraine (Waller) Bernhard.

He married Peggy J. Chambliss on June 20, 1981 at Bluford, Illinois and she survives.

Floyd is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; four daughters, April Waller of Du Quoin, Angel (John) Cooper of Du Quoin, Candy Waller of Du Quoin, and Lisa (Kevin) Lowery of Bluford; one son, Steve (Sheila) Pierce of Dale, Indiana; one sister, Tina (Mike) Kilmer of Du Quoin; grandchildren, Eric (Megan) Lowery of Colorado, Danara (Derek) Lowery Gant of Colorado, Kendra (Dustin) Stevens of Florida, Cody (Shelbi) Pierce of Kentucky, Brettan Cooper, Prestin Green, Marci Dunmyer, Derek Cooper, and Parker Berry, all of Illinois; and great-grandchildren Hadlee, Audra, Taryn, Owen, Oswyn, Grayson, Riley, Azelea, and Ezerah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Kory Jane Cooper; and his in-laws, Leuty and Loretta Chambliss.

Masonic services will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Religious services will follow the Masonic service, with Gary Pate and Kim Mason officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan allows for up to 50 attendees, using social distancing guidelines.

The family asks everyone in attendance to wear masks.

Per Floyd's request, cremation rites will be held following the services.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society in Floyd's name. These will be accepted at the funeral home.
