Jill S. Asbury, 56, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:58 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the SIH Herrin Hospital.
Jill was the supervisor of the Marion Eye Center in Du Quoin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. Jill was also a member of Du Quoin Service League and Xi Kappa Theta Sorority.
She was a Special Olympics volunteer for winter softball, boys baseball, the Polar Plunge, spring games, and Southern Illinois Rubber Duckie Derby. She enjoyed watching Brenna participate in Special Olympics.
Jill enjoyed cooking and home crafts. She loved going to the beach with her kids and spending time with her grandkids.
She was born July 6, 1964 at Du Quoin, the daughter of Robert and Judy (Gilliam) Payne.
She married Bill D. Asbury on April 30, 1983 at Du Quoin, and he survives.
Jill is survived by her husband of Du Quoin; four daughters, Caitlin (Nolan) Carney of Pinckneyville, Lindsay (Nick) Baskin of Herrin, Emily Asbury (fiancÚ McKinley Carver) of Du Quoin, and Brenna Asbury of Du Quoin; her mother, Judy Payne of Du Quoin; five grandchildren, Maddux, Houston, Alba, Amelia and Kayson; one sister, Jennifer (Tim) Davis of Du Quoin; one brother, Chuck Payne of Du Quoin; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the cemetery.
Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan allows up to 50 attendees, using social distancing guidelines.
The family asks that everyone present wear masks.
Friends are invited to make memorials to the Special Olympics in Jill's name. They will be accepted at the funeral home.
