Paul Foss Pinkstaff of Tamaroa

Paul Foss Pinkstaff, age 89, of Tamaroa and formerly of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. He was born to Charles J. and Beulah E. (Foss) Pinkstaff on June 11, 1931 in the small town of Pinkstaff, in Lawrence County.

Paul married Diane Tarpley in Franklin, Kentucky on Aug. 13, 1949, and she survives.

Paul was a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and was active in forming programs and activities for disabled individuals. He worked for many years at the Texaco refinery.

Surviving family includes his wife, Diane (Tarpley) Pinkstaff; two daughters, Sally (Alan) McDaniel of Palestine, Illinois and Susan Mays of Du Quoin; five granddaughters; two step-granddaughters; 13 great-grandsons; seven great-granddaughters; five step-great-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Kay) Pinkstaff of Morris, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Beulah (Foss) Pinkstaff; one daughter, Nancy Pinkstaff; one son-in-law, Johnnie Mays; one sister, Betty Boren: one brother, Charles Pinkstaff Jr.; one grandson; and his mother-in-law, Gladys Gillespie.

A walk-through viewing will be held at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 25. That will be followed by a private graveside service at the Bridgeport City Cemetery.
