Emma Sue (Keith) Frueh, formerly of Du Quoin

Emma Sue Frueh, age 78 of Greenville, Illinois, peacefully passed away at her home after a battle with cancer.

Emma Sue, the daughter of Charlie and Tillie (Linze) Keith, was born July 8, 1942 in Du Quoin, Illinois. After World War II the family moved to Vanduser, Missouri, near Sikeston, where she and her family lived until her 7th grade year, when they moved back to Du Quoin where Emma Sue graduated from high school. She continued her education at SIU Carbondale.

While a student at Carbondale, Emma Sue met fellow student Carl Frueh, and they were united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1961. They enjoyed 59 years together. They are the parents of Keith Frueh of Greenville and Sue Ann (Jerry) Nelson of Greenville.

Emma Sue helped Carl on the farm, doing bookkeeping and assisting with daily chores. Her greatest love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren: Afton Nelson, who now lives and is studying in Munich, Germany, and Brock Nelson from Greenville.

Emma Sue was a longtime St. Louis Cardinals fan - and even was a cardboard cutout fan in the stands during the COVID season.

Emma Sue was a member of the First Christian Church in Greenville.
