Helen Murray of Du Quoin

Helen Murray, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 at SIH Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Helen had been a waitress and hostess at To Perfection for 40 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. Helen was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Du Quoin Elks Lodge and Junior Women's Club.

She was born May 20, 1930 at Dowell, Illinois, the daughter of Mike and Anna (Kuhn) Buyaki.

She married Harry Robert Murray on Nov. 20, 1946 at Corinth, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1982.

She is survived by her daughter, Terra (Jerry) Beard of Du Quoin; her son, James R. (Nancy) Murray of Conifer, Colorado; and two grandchildren, Rachel V. Murray of Denver, Colorado and Claire A. Murray of Aurora, Colorado.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Anna Harmon and Margaret Rea.

Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin with the Rev. Lon McPherson officiating. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask, and everyone is asked to use social distancing guidelines.
