Tom Morgan of Du Quoin

Thomas J. "Tom" Morgan, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at his residence.

Tom was a welder for Du Quoin Machine Works and had worked in maintenance at the Du Quoin Fairgrounds.

He was of the Protestant faith. Tom was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, and received the Korean service medal with three Bronze Stars. He was also a life member of the Du Quoin V.F.W.

Tom was born on Dec. 10, 1930 at Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of Silas and Anna Morgan.

He married Martha Berger Freeman on Oct. 13, 2012 at Du Quoin and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; three children, Wayne Morgan of South Carolina, Mark Morgan of Dowell, Illinois and Vicki Morgan of Herrin, Illinois; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren.

Per Thomas' request, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no public visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at a later date.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the American Diabetes Association, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
