Stephen Wade Mandrell of Marion

Stephen Wade Mandrell, 62, of Marion, Illinois, passed on from this Earth to his Heavenly home on April 9, 2021.

Steve was a wonderful husband, father, brother, son and friend to many, but the role that he cherished most was Pawpaw. It didn't matter if they were kin or not he loved his grandbabies all the same.

Steve was funny, caring, strong and would do anything for anyone if he could. Steve loved being in the outdoors; hunting, fishing, or just tinkering around outside.

Steve is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Jessica (Seth) Bradley; sonm Nicolas (Jade) Mandrell; granddaughterm Everleigh Bradley; fatherm Hubert Mandrell; brother, Bruce Mandrell; sister, Treva Purnell; brother-in-law, Randy (Renee) Edmondson; plus several uncles and aunts and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; his mother, Doris Mandrell; his special cousin, Greg; and his beloved granddaughter, Jade Marie Beasley.

Steve's desire to help people led him to choose body donation in hopes that advancements in medicine could be made.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no services. Steve wants to be remembered as he was: the funny guy with a big smile and even bigger beard who was always there to lend a helping hand. Celebrate and remember his life by being kind to others, finding humor in everyday and loving the Lord.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses of Herrin Hospital, Carbondale Hospital, and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for the incredible care that he received and the kindness and love that was shown to his family.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family via the GoFundMe link https://gofund.me/c0392d5a. Or donations are also being collected at the Marion Fire Department, 204. N. Court St.
