Leah Ann Search of Chester

Leah Ann Search, 57, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 8:54 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

She was born to the late James "Jim" and Sharon (nee Mueller) Shields on Dec. 16, 1963 in Kirkwood, Missouri.

Leah married Taylor "Tate" Search on April 20, 1985 in Chester, Illinois; he survives.

She was a valued member of the faculty/staff at St. Mary's Catholic School for more than 28 years.

Leah was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester. She loved watching her family play sports, baking and spending time with her grandson Trenton.

She is survived by her husband, Tate Search of Chester; her mother, Sharon Shields of Chester,; two children, Tyler (Kacey) Search of Chester and Nicole (Brendan) Madsen of Odessa, Missouri; three siblings, Mark (Judy) Shields of Chester, Jay (Dawn) Shields of Dyer, Indiana and Denice (Mike) Atchison of Chester; one grandson, Trenton Search and a grandchild due in August; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, James "Jim" Shields.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, with Msgr. Dennis Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening and 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic School in Chester and Valle Catholic School in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.
