Deborah Ruth Barton of Murphysboro

Deborah Ruth Barton, age 65, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Deborah was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, the daughter of Elaine (Elder) Johnson and Kenneth Pate. She married Larry Barton in Murphysboro in 1980. Together, they simply enjoyed life together and being by each other's side.

Prior to her retirement, Deb had worked for IGA, SIU, and in home health care. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 40 years, Larry Barton of Murphysboro; son and daughter-in-law Frank and Jeannie Smith of Du Quoin; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Eileen Barton of Du Quoin; grandchildren Brittany Barton and Axel Dean Reibach; a sister, Joyce Baker of Harrisburg, Kentucky; and three brothers, William Wendling of Lansing, Michigan, David Wayne Wendling of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and Donald Wendling of Miami, Florida.

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Pate; mother, Elaine (Elder) Johnson; her stepfather, Bill Wendling; and two brothers, Rick Pate and Danny Wendling.

Loved ones will gather for a private slumber room viewing at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home, 11 S. Hickory St., Du Quoin, 62832, for the family to say their final goodbyes to a loved and cherished woman prior to requested cremation rites.

Prayer services will be conducted by Pastor Dale Dunmyer, and a time of fellowship and remembrance will follow as a private family meal will be hosted at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home and graciously provided by Grand Tower Baptist Church.
