Kenneth A. Minnick of Du Quoin

Kenneth A. Minnick, age 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Du Quoin.

Kenneth was born in Joliet on Oct. 13, 1940, the son of John and Helen (Troutman) Minnick. He married Helen Eileen Longshore in Joliet on April 1, 1961. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2007.

Mr. Minnick proudly served his country in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, Ken worked as a bidding subcontractor, specializing in painting and roofing.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth E. (Diane) Minnick of Du Quoin, Michael Minnick of Texas and Richard (Robin) Minnick of Tennessee; his grandson and caregiver, Trenton Duran of Du Quoin; the other grandchildren, Maggie, Heidi, Hannah, Richard, Nicole, Kendra and Sarah; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, John (Terry) Minnick, Calvin Minnick and Roy (Nancy) Minnick; three sisters, Judy (Ronald) Fowler, Debbie (Michael) Buske and Denise Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Jackie Lehner; and two brothers, Glenn and Robert Minnick.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Old Du Quoin Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion posts, with assistance from the U.S. Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail Team. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.
