Janelle Huggins of Tamaroa

Janelle Huggins, 88, of Tamaroa, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab.

Janelle worked in the clerical department at Blue Bell Packing Company, and also worked part time at the Tamaroa Water Department. Janelle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tamaroa, where she played piano and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Birthday Club.

Janelle was treasurer for both the church and the Tamaroa Cemetery for many years.

She was born Nov. 27, 1932 at Tamaroa, Illinois, the daughter of James Ralph "Cotton" and Otillia Louise "Tilley" (Ogzewalla) Rice.

She married David Huggins on Dec. 30, 1950 at Tamaroa, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2002.

She is survived by two children, Jon David (Diana) Huggins of Swanwick and Charlotte (Dennis) Pestka of Du Bois; two grandchildren, Paige Pestka (Jorge Pino) of Ave Marie, Florida and Brittany (Michael) Numi of Du Bois; and two great-grandchildren, Jake and Jordyn Numi.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Tamaroa Cemetery at Tamaroa, with the Rev. Raymond Baggott officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the cemetery. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church in Tamaroa or the Tamaroa Cemetery; these will be accepted at the funeral home.
