Betty Jean Holloman, formerly of Chester

Betty Jean Holloman, 89, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

She was born to the late Edgar and Edith (nee Mizer) Roth on March 28, 1932 in Chester, Illinois. Betty married Dale Holloman on March 20, 1953 at Fort Benning, Georgia; he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2020.

Betty was a homemaker, although in her younger years she was a secretary for the Champaign County Sheriff's Department and also worked at a dress shop.

Betty was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at a hospital in Texas and did volunteer work at the Presbyterian church in Marion, Illinois.

She is survived by three daughters, Sheila Holloman-Woodruff, Sandy (Ron) Guymon and Terry Holloman, all of Belleville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Edith Roth; her husband, Dale Holloman; and three brothers, Gary, Robert and Larry Roth.

The funeral service will begin at noon on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in Chester, Illinois. The Rev. Dan Whitfield will officiate. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, directly before the service, at First Presbyterian Church in Chester. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
