Thomas William Murray of Harrisburg

Thomas William Murray, age 85 of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born on July 25, 1936, in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Raymond V. and Margaret (Spitzer) Murray. He married Constance "Connie" Murray on Oct. 7, 1983, and she survives.

Thomas retired in 1975 as a Tech Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. He was an outdoorsman, he loved sports and being at the beach.

In addition to his wife, Connie, Thomas is survived by six children, daughter Connie (Derek) Henshaw of Harrisburg, daughter Peggy (Tony) Rakowski of Wisconsin; daughter Debbie (T.A.) Sullivan of Harrisburg, son Thomas V. Murray of Harrisburg; daughter Sherry (Enrique) Kadoch of Texas; and son Richard R. (Glenda) Murray of O'Fallon; grandchildren, Dylan Henshaw, Allyson Henshaw, Lauren Van Kuren, Ali Stockton, T.A. Sullivan IV, Sean Sullivan, Megan Harrison, Christina Murray, Rhys Murray and Keeley L'Esperance; multiple great-grandchildren; brother Ronnie (Dorothy) Murray of Bloomington; brother-in-law Donald Jones of Creal Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Jones; and a granddaughter, Danielle Copus.

A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where the Rev. Kevin Sullivan will officiate. Military rites will be performed by the U.S. Air Force.
