Marjorie L. Rogers, 91, of Galatia

Marjorie L. Rogers, 91, of Galatia passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion, Illinois.

Marjorie was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Harrisburg to Ralph Newton & Effie E. (Palmer) Williams. She was the seventh child of 11 born into this family. She married Howard Rogers of Benton, Illinois on July 22, 1965, and he preceded her in death.

Marge was quite active in the Galatia community. She was on the Galatia Village Board more than once, worked tirelessly to help bring a beautiful library to Galatia, and was active in the Galatia Historical Society and the Galatia Methodist Church where she was a member.

She loved children and hosted many a tea party for her great-nieces.

Marge is survived by a sister, Juanita Broyles of Goreville, Illinois, and a brother, Charles David Williams of Springfield, Illinois. She is also survived by three children she lovingly claimed as her own, Idalla (Dave) Smith of Rockford, Illinois, Kay Kern of Benton, Illinois and David (Vicki) Rogers of Marion; three grandchildren and a large host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Lorene Bernas; and seven brothers, James Newton, Ralph Edward, Tom, Tim, Arthur Richard, Frank Palmer and John A. Williams.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to the funeral hour at Sloan's. Dr. Harrison Peyton and Paula Johnson will officiate.

Marge was dearly loved by a host of friends and family. She will be sorely missed by all.
