Mary Louise Ragland of Tamaroa

Mary Louise Ragland, 96, of Tamaroa, Illinois, passed away at 11 p.m. on March 31, 2022 at the Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Du Quoin.

Mary was a beloved daughter, wife and mother. She was a dairy farm operator and homemaker. She belonged to the American Dairy Association, Perry County Farm Bureau and Bear Point Baptist Church.

She was born Nov. 26, 1925, in Jefferson County, Illinois, the daughter of Lionel B. McBride and Ethel A. (Walker) McBride.

She married Charles E. Ragland Sr. on July 14, 1943 in Franklin County, Illinois. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2013.

She is survived by six children, Gayla (Bill) Yung of Sesser, Mark Ragland of Sesser, Jeff Sr. (Sharon) Ragland of Tamaroa, Lee Ann Ragland Williams of Herrin, Anita (Steve) Lovelady of Tamaroa, and Charles Jr. (Lori) Ragland of Sesser; one sister, Linda Acosta of Sesser; one sister-in-law, Jean Ragland of Tamaroa; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband; daughter Colleen Sue Taylor; a sister and brother-in-law, Mona (Ed) Guziejka; one brother, Austin Allen McBride; a brother-in-law, Al Acosta; a grandson, Clayton Charles Ragland; and two great-granddaughters, Mattison Ragland and Kaitlyn Laskowski.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, with the Revs. Larry Cook and John Hollis Sr. officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery in Tamaroa.

Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
