June Hampton of Pinckneyville, formerly of Marion

June Hampton, age 99, of Pinckneyville, Illinois and formerly of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2022 at Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

June was born June 21, 1922 in Carterville, Illinois, a daughter of Sam and Dona (Day) Hampton. Prior to her retirement, June worked as a bookkeeper and secretary in the Marion area.

She was a member of the Marion First Baptist Church. June was also a proud charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She is survived by her niece, Phyllis Manker of Manteno, Illinois; niece Mary Ann (Don) Badgley of Steeleville, Illinois; niece Joie Gulley of Pinckneyville; nephew Robert (Linda) Ward of Lafayette, Louisiana; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Dona (Day) Hampton; two sisters, Mildred Ward and Virginia Craig; and her infant sister, Mary Lee Hampton.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville, with Dr. Donald Badgley officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pinckneyville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund for the residents, or the Marion First Baptist Church.
