Jeffory Kent Whiting of Galatia

Jeffory Kent Whiting, 69, of Galatia passed on this life Oct. 18, 2022, at Herrin Hospital after a short illness.

Jeff, as most knew him, was born in Harrisburg on Oct. 1, 1953, to Ron (Deceased) and Marjory (Gurley) Whiting. On June 1, 1973, he married the love of his life, Jane (Rider) Whiting, and they have had 49 wonderful years together.

Jeff was always a very hard worker; he worked most of his life in the coal mines as an electrician and master mechanic before retiring. He loved to garden, fish and work on his many projects. He loved to travel with his family. Jeff was a loving husband and treasured father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.

Jeff is survived his wife, Jane Whiting of Galatia; his sons, Timothy (Amy) Whiting of Harrisburg and Nicholas (Keithsha) Whiting of Glassboro, N.J.; his grandchildren, Austin Lowry, Bradyn Whiting, Caleigh Whiting, Alexandrea Whiting and Vincent Whiting; his mother, Marjory Whiting; his sisters, Rhonda (Keith) Teal and Sondra (Kevin) Hefner; a sister-in-law, Pam Whiting; nephews Jason (Courtney) Whiting and Joe (Katie) Whiting; and nieces Rebecca Teal and Keri (Barry) Tye.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Ron Whiting; and a brother, David Whiting.

Visitation for Jeff will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. His funeral service will immediately follow with Justin Ferrell officiating. Interment will be at St. Patricks Cemetery East of Ridgway.
