Handful of area ballers highlight SICA All-South squad

The Benton trio of Addisyn Miller, her younger sister Braelyn and sophomore shooting guard Ensley Tedeschi, along with the Marion duo of Jerzy Bittle and Gracie Connor and Harrisburg's Lauryn Gribble led the way of girls basketball players that landed on the Southern Illinois Coaches Association All-South Team.
Miller, who was recently named to the Champaign News Gazette Top 100 Honorable Mention Team, but also, Associated Press Class 2A Honorable Mention Team, Southern Illinois River-To-River Ohio All-Conference team and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Team.
Miller averaged 17.1 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals, 2.5 assists for 12-2 conference champs. Miller shot 43 percent from 3-point range and 71 percent from the free-throw line. In her career, she surpassed the 1,000 point mark and hit a school-record 209 3-pointers in her career and a single-game school record of eight
Tedeschi averaged 10 points per game, five rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Braelyn Miller was good for 8.9 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, as well as, 3.4 steals and 1.5 assists a night.
Bittle and Connor were two of six girls selected in Class 3A, joining Mt. Vernon's Claire Heinzman, Kennady Hayes, along with Carbondale's Faith Holliday and Herrin's Presli Karnes.
Bittle led the Wildcats at 17 points per game from the point guard position and averaged four rebounds per game, four assists per game and two steals.
The 5-foot-8 sophomore was also First Team South 7 and Marion Lions Club MVP for girls basketball.
Connor averaged 13 points per game, to go along with, five rebounds per game and one steal. She was also Second Team South 7 and runner-up MVP with the Marion Lions Club.
Gribble averaged a team-high 12 points per game and 10.2 rebounds for Harrisburg. Like others, Gribble was named SIRR Ohio All-Conference, as well as, All-South and IBCA Honorable Mention All-State.
