Wildcats slam Terriers 41-8
CARBONDALE -- The Marion Wildcats football team blasted past rival Carbondale Friday night, leaving the Terriers in the dust 41-8 at their own Bleyer Field. The Wildcats now face a neutral, non-conference tilt Friday against Mattoon. The match with Carbondale was a very odd game. The Wildcats scored 38 points in 6 minutes. The Cats scored on a regular offensive drive at the 3:47 mark of the first quarter and then, incredibly, scored again six seconds later! The kick-off to Carbondale was fumbled by a Terrier return man, and a Cat kickoff defender picked it up and dashed to the end zone (14-0 lead for Marion).
