State's attorney announces Perry County sentencings

PINCKNEYVILLE - Perry County State's Attorney David H. Searby, Jr., announced the following sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections during the month of September:

William V. Huggins, 34, of Du Quoin, was sentenced to prison after having admitted to a Petition to Revoke Probation violation for the original offense of Delivery of Methamphetamine, a Class 2 felony, on July 9.

After the sentencing hearing held on Sept. 5, Huggins was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (with applicable credit for time previously served) with a two-year Mandatory Supervised Release Period.

The Perry County Drug Task Force, comprised of the Du Quoin Police Department, Pinckneyville Police Department and Perry County Sheriff's Office, was responsible for the original investigation and arrest.

Alexander M. Bird, 22, of Nashville, was sentenced to prison after having admitted to a Petition to Revoke Probation violation for the original offense of Delivery of Methamphetamine, a Class 2 felony, on March 7, 2018.

After a sentencing hearing held Monday of this week, Bird was sentenced to 68 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections (with applicable credit for time previously served) with a two-year Mandatory Supervised Release Period.

The Perry County Drug Task Force, comprised of the Du Quoin Police Department, Pinckneyville Police Department and Perry County Sheriff's Office, was responsible for the original investigation and arrest.
