VOLLEYBALL: A-J holds off Du Quoin rally

DU QUOIN, IL - Du Quoin fought back after trailing big in the second set, but Anna-Jonesboro hung on for a 25-14, 26-24 victory in Tuesday's varsity volleyball contest at Anders Gymnasium.

The Lady Indians (4-6) were led by Kate Toler and Rebekah Maddox who each recorded 6 kills in the match. Hope Fenton added 3 kills.

Alexis Kohrs led DHS in digs with 10, Cassidy Rice had 9.

Du Quoin travels to Sparta for another SIRR Mississippi Division battle on Thursday night.

For the home game on September 20 against Pinckneyville, the Lady Indians will be holding Brain Cancer Awareness Night to benefit Du Quoin native Anna Maddox. T-shirts are available from DHS volleyball head coach Jesica Green.
