Jany-Bert-Marcincowski reunion
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On a comfortable August 2, 2009, the descendants of Constantine Jany and Catherine Ederer gathered at Fort Kaskaskia Park for their annual reunion. The 20-year tradition of the celebration of the Catholic Mass was continued thanks to Fr. Rafi Kuttukaran and Deacon Steve Paulter. During the Mass, tributes to the 50 deceased descendants of Constantine and Catherine were given. A special tribute to Eddie Jany was included. Prior to his death, since last year's reunion, Eddie, the 18th descendant of Constantine and Catherine, was the oldest surviving descendant.
On a brighter side, Eddie has been replaced with several newborn descendants since last year's reunion, with some of those in attendance. Total number of descendants of Constantine and Catherine is now near 500.
Of the 12 children of Constantine and Catherine, only five married and had children. Those five families are: Anna and Gus Marcinkowski, Roman and Stephanie Jany, Bertha and Domein Bert, Albert and Valley Jany, and Gus and Alma Jany. These five couples produced 59 grandchildren and 150 great-grandchildren for Constantine and Catherine. There are now six generations of descendants.
With the large number of young male descendants bearing the Jany, Bert, Marcincowski name, any extinction of Constantine and Catherine's descendants bearing those names does not appear likely in the near future.
