Mary Sulser elected second vice chairman of the CBAI
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Sulser, executive vice president and director, Buena Vista National Bank of Chester, was elected second vice chairman of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI). The announcement was made during the association's annual convention in Schaumburg, IL. Sulser serves on the CBAI board of directors and strategic planning committee, serves on the board of directors of CBAI's three subsidiary corporations and its finance committee, and chairs its agriculture committee. She also assists the CBAI chairman and the first vice chairman in conducting the association's affairs.
Sulser began her banking career at First Financial Bank of Ste. Genevieve County, St. Mary, MO, in 1983. In 1994, she went to Buena Vista National Bank of Chester, where she is a director and executive vice president.
Sulser attended the National Compliance School, Norman, OK; the Graduate School of Banking, Madison, WI; and the Senior Management Session at the Graduate School of Banking, Madison, WI. In 2000, Sulser was named the CBAI Career Development Division Banker of the Year. Sulser is also a director with the Illinois Transfer System and serves on the Independent Community Bankers of America education committee.
Civic duties include Chester Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; American Legion Auxiliary treasurer; Girls State chairman; and member of the Chester Chamber of Commerce.
CBAI is a professional trade association representing approximately 460 Illinois commercial banks and thrifts, and their 930 Illinois bank branches. Its members have $70 billion in assets and employ approximately 18,000 individuals. CBAI, headquartered in Springfield, was founded in 1974.
