Lady Musketeers win three

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Red Bud softball team got their week off to a great start, pounding out 13 hits in an easy 11-2 win over Granite City.

Ciara Schaeffer hit a double and two singles, Dany Gargac had three singles, Jessica Snyder hit a triple and a double, Amy Koester had a double and a single, Tara Hubert had two singles and Bianca Durbin added one single.

Schaeffer was also the winning pitcher. In five innings she gave up only three hits, walked one and struck out eight.

The next Red Bud game was not for fans who like a lot of offense. But if you enjoy great pitching and defense and like a really close game, you can't get much closer than a 1-0 win over Metro-East Lutheran in 11 innings.

Andrea Hartmann was the starting pitcher for the Lady Musketeers. In six innings she gave up only two hits, walked five and struck out nine. Schaeffer picked up the win by pitching five innings of relief. She gave up one hit, walked one and struck out five.

The only hits for Red Bud were singles by Tori Albert and Kaitlyn Thies.

Red Bud wrapped up their week with a 9-2 win over Mascoutah on Thursday. The Lady Musketeers got on the board with two runs in the first, then put the game away with seven big runs in the sixth. Mascoutah came back with two in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.

Albert, Durbin and Koester had two hits apiece, Snyder hit a triple and led in RBI's with three and Schaeffer, Thies and Lora Tindall added one hit each.

Hubert picked up the win for Red Bud. In six innings she allowed three hits and struck out four. In one inning Hartmann allowed three hits.
