Steeleville Jaycees begin Oktoberfest planning
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Steeleville Jaycees met Tues. Aug, 17 to work on plans for this year's 28th annual Oktoberfest that will be held on Oct. 8 and 9th in downtown Steeleville. The theme for this year's Oktoberfest is "Down on the Farm" and will feature many of the festival favorites as well as some new activities. The Jaycees are looking for contestants again this year to run for Little Mr. and Ms. Oktoberfest ages 0-8th grade and king and queen contestants age 9th grade up to adult. This year the Jaycees have added an extra incentive to the contest. The overall money maker of both age groups will win a $250 bonus on top of the 10% of the money they raise. The 2010 Oktoberfest will once again kick off with the "Down on the Farm" themed parade on Friday night starting at 6p.m. Those wishing to enter the parade can do so by calling First National Bank of Steeleville. The festivities will continue downtown after the parade with food, drinks, and music. Any group interested in having a food booth should contact Devin Knop at 317-2524. The 28th Oktoberfest will feature some great music this year with Whiskey Dixon on Friday night and Johnny Rockitt and the Double Wide Symphony on Saturday night. The craft fair will once again be on Saturday from 8-3:30 and anyone interested in being a vendor should contact Celine Vallett at 615-1405. The Jaycees are also happy to announce a change to the Run/Walk for St. Jude's this year. The 3rd Annual Walk for St. Jude will once again lead off the parade. Please contact Dr. Renee Rheinecker at 965-9555 if you are interested in walking or being a sponsor. The change this year comes to the Saturday morning race which was a 3k and will now be 5K race.
