Interim principal to be named after Kittell suspended

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[In a press release sent out by the Board of Education of Chester Community Unit School District No. 139 the board approved the suspension of Mr. Kittell, Chester High School Principal, from his duties with pay and benefits effective immediately pending a dismissal hearing before the Board of Education.

The Board granted permission to Ms. Keim to search for an interim principal.

The board of Education met in the Chester School District Unit Office on January 3, 2011. The board entered into executive session at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body. The board entered into open session at 5:27 p.m. with their decision on Kittell

According to superintendent Keim, a special board meeting, is scheduled for January 11 at 4:30 p.m. at the Chester Community Unit School District Superintendent's Office.

On the agenda is an executive session regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body.

Keim also stated that an interim principal will be appointed, for the remainder of the 2010-2011 school year, at the January 11 meeting. The individual appointed will start their position on January 18.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chester School District Unit Office; 1940 Swanwick Street; Chester.
