City council approves salary increase
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[At their Monday council meeting the Chester City Council approved a salary adjustment for gas department employee Josh?Straight. The salary will increase from $30,000 to $37,500 retroactive February 1, 2011. The increase is based on increased responsibility for Straight.
The ordinance amending ordinance No. 1340 and Article V - in regard to signs and section 25-5-1 regarding political signs was approved by the council.
An agreement with USAgain to allow them to place a clothing recycler at the city recycling location was tabled until a later meeting.
A resolution regarding electronic attendance at city council meeting and city board, commission and committee meetings was approved.
Bids for 728 Ann Street,?Cedar Street and Barron?Street were tabled.
The pay estimate #3 for $34, 580.53, to Red Dot Construction &?Equipment Rentals, Inc. for Bodes Lane/Perdy Road water main extension was approved.
J.T. Blankenship, Inc, for Bodes Lane/Percy?Road water main extension was approved for payment in the amount of $6,298.74.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Monday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall.
