Harris brings with her fourteen years of newspaper experience. Harris worked, from 1994 to 2009, for the Enterprise-Courier and the East Prairie Eagle in Charleston, Missouri. She started writing sports in high school while working half days at the newspaper. After graduation, she joined the newspaper full-time, writing stories, taking photographs, delivering the newspapers and selling advertising. The Enterprise-Courier was a privately owned newspaper that closed down in 2009. Since then Harris has been looking to find her dream job again within the newspaper industry.
"When the position for publisher of The Randolph County Herald Tribune and The Steeleville Ledger became available, I jumped at the opportunity to work within the newspaper industry once again," stated Harris. "As the new publisher I want to go more digital, starting with getting the newspaper online. Subscribers will be able to view a digital copy of the entire newspaper online soon. I am excited to meet and work with the Randolph County community. It takes the whole community to make the newspaper. The newspaper belongs to the community. Their stories make it what it is," she added.
Harris has already begun to become a part of the community by joining the rotary club.
"I feel it is important as a leader within the community to show involvement. I understand that advertising pays our salaries, however stories from the community makes the newspaper what it is. I am willing to get out in the community where ever I am needed, and if that means writing stories or covering events, I will be there," stated Harris.
Harris also knows every department in the newspaper and is willing to jump in when needed.
Harris resides in Perryville with her fiance Russell Franklin, formerly of Sparta, IL and her two boys Caleb, 11 and Hunter 14.
