Car shows bring out the best in Southern Illinois
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ellis Grove resident Tom Moll, better know around the circuit as the "Lil Governor" began promoting car shows thirteen years ago, since then the car shows have grown to staggering participants.
Known as the Best Little Car Show in Southern Illinois, the 13th Annual Car Show is the first show of the season and draws people from numerous states. The show will be held July 15 in Ellis Grove, IL. Registration is from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Judging starts at noon with the winner presentations at 4:00 p.m.
There are 43 classes with 3 awards per class awarded. Specialty awards are presented in the following categories: Best Ford product, best GM product, best Mopar product, best truck, best street rod, best engine, best interior, best paint & graphic, fireman's choice, banker's choice, club participation and Mayor's choice.
The 2nd Annual Popeye Cruise-Cruising at the Picnic will be held Saturday September 8, 2012 at Cohen Complex, Chester. The event will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cars will cruise to Riverfront at 6:00 p.m. Dash Plaques-First 100 Entries. 50/50 Drawing and Attendance Prizes. There will be food and refreshments available. A donation of one canned good is requested, the food collected will be donated to the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry.
