Chester Pool has great season

The Chester Pool was recently visited by the Illinois Department of Public Health for their annual inspection. There are approximately 67 items that are evaluated, including the deck, the pool itself, water treatment equipment, equipment room, bath house, management safety, and general maintenance. Other than the pH being a little low that day, our pool received its best rating in years.

One hundred season passes were sold this year. Each day there were approximately 100 swimmers. Two sessions of public lessons were held with approximately 75 children participating. The Chester Pool employs 25 young adults per summer, each completing a week long Red Cross training and CPR certification. The lifeguards and staff are responsibility for the safety of the swimmers and have many other duties to keep our pool running smoothly.

The swim team consisted of 75 devoted swimmers who practiced many hours each week, traveled to many area towns, and brought home 20 ribbons and medals. This year, they placed 5th in the conference.

The last day of operation for 2012 will be August 19. Weekday hours are 1-7:00 p.m. and weekend hours are noon till 7:00 p.m.
