Sacred Heart Lenten fish fries start Friday

The beautiful Christmas decorations at Sacred Heart have been packed away and the deep pan fryers have been brought out to prepare for Sacred Heart Church's Annual Fish Fries which begin Friday, Feb. 8 through March 22. Doesn't it seem a little early this year?

According to Father Nick Junker, pastor at Sacred Heart, "It is early. Easter is on March 31. The parish fish fries begin the Friday before Ash Wednesday, because we don't have one on Good Friday, which is a day of fasting, reflection and prayer."

The all-you-can-eat fish fries are a popular community event. They will be held each Friday until March 22 at Haffner Hall from 4 to 7 p.m.. The menu consists of fried fish, baked beans, baked potatoes or fries, slaw, hush puppies, bread, dessert and drink.

"Some people come just for our delicious desserts and you can take an extra one home with you for only $1." says Fr. Nick.

A sandwich and hush puppies is only $5. A full adult meal is $9 and a child meal (12 and under) is $4; children age 3 and under eat-in free. Carry-outs and home deliveries are available by calling 542-2285.

It is another good meal at a reasonable price provided by Sacred Heart Parishioners who will cook your meal, bake your dessert, clear your table and greet you with a smile every Friday during Lent.
