National Library Week at Du Quoin Public Library

The Du Quoin Public Library and the Friends of the Du Quoin Public Library are sponsoring the following activities for National Library Week, April 14-20, 2013 at the Du Quoin Public Library. The theme for the 2013 NLW is "Communities matter @ your library."

• "Guess the Number Game" - Beginning Monday, April 15, library patrons throughout the week will be able to use their abilities to try and guess the number of edible items in a decorative container. The winner is announced on Saturday.

• "National Library Workers Day" - A "Galaxy of Stars" reception will be held Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. to honor both current and former library staff and library board members. Patrons are invited to visit with the guests and share in the celebration of appreciation with refreshments being provided.

• "Ways to Celebrate Libraries" - On Wednesday, April 17, patrons may pick up a list of "Ways that Individuals Can Celebrate" all the things libraries have to offer and the way they shape lives along with getting a colorful bookmark.

• "Teen Literature Day" - Beginning Thursday, April 18, teenage patrons may write the name of a favorite book title and enter it in a drawing to be held on Saturday for five prizes. A display will be featured the next week on the submitted book titles.

• "Bring a Friend or Family Member to the Library Day" - Friday, April 19, patrons may enjoy visiting the library throughout the day and seeing all the items available for viewing or checking out - Sign up for a library card, if you don't already have one.

• "Children's Reading Hour" - Celebrate Dr. Seuss and upcoming Earth Day on Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at a story hour, with a variety of activities, stories, refreshments and prizes.
