62nd National Day of Prayer is Thursday in Keyes City Park
The 62nd annual National Day of Prayer observance in Du Quoin will be held at noon Thursday, May 2 at the bandstand in Keyes City Park.
This year's theme is "Pray for America."
The scripture for this year is from Matthew 12:21: "In His name, the nations will put their hope."
Rev. Dan McKinnies will be the speaker and Ron Danbury will be the special singer.
The observance will last about 20 minutes.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation.
It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, the signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
