Relay for Life hosting special events for area cancer survivors

Cancer survivors, whether diagnosed yesterday or 10 years ago, are invited to be a part of the Relay For Life of Perry County that will be held from 6:00 p.m., May 17 to 6:00 a.m., May 18 at Perry County Fairgrounds, in Pinckneyville. Special events include a Survivor Lap, Survivor Celebration Pavilion and other activities aimed at those whose lives have been directly touched by cancer.

Relay For Life is an overnight, family-focused event held to celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers, remember those who have lost their battle against the disease, and fight back against cancer by raising funds for research, educational outreach and programs that assist area cancer patients and their families.

As the nation's largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, American Cancer Society turns what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer, and countless more who have avoided it, will be celebrating birthdays this year.
