Expect 7,900 from Continental Tire Co., 5,000 from Egyptian Building Trades here Labor Day

Continental Tire Co. of Mount Vernon is setting a table for 7,900 employees and family members at the Du Quoin State Fair on Monday celebrates Labor Day.

The picnic will be held in the VIP tent on the south side of the fairgrounds with families coming and going throughout the day.

Another 5,000 members of the Egyptian Building Trades unions and their families are expected for the Labor Day picnic around the corral pavilion on the north side of the fairgrounds.

The employees of Knight Hawk Coal Co. will hold their annual picnic on Saturday in the VIP tent and CWI waste management company will hold their employee picnic on Sunday in the VIP tent.

Continental Tire is a major sponsor of events in the grandstand.

"Southern Illinois workers have always been known for their strong work ethic," Rednour said. "We have many great employers and employees in our region. We want these companies, their employees, and their families to be able to come to a single location where they can eat good food and be entertained throughout the day."

"These picnics were events we helped companies plan for throughout the year," Rednour said

Of last year's Continental Tire picnic fair manager John Rednour said, "That was a massive picnic," Rednour said. "Their employees just kept coming in waves."
