Volunteer Foundation first annual golf scramble Sept. 19

The motto of the Volunteer Foundation is "Stand Up." And, time and time again the foundation has taken the lead in sponsoring high quality programs in Du Quoin.

The work of the foundation includes the local annual student honors night, the series of veterans memorial books, the Du Quoin High School mentoring projects including Peer Power, veterans memorial flag displays, its support of the Civil War monument project in Keyes Park created by Joe Stephens, and tens of thousands of dollars in classroom equipment support in Du Quoin schools.

That work will continue with your support of the upcoming 1st annual Volunteer Foundation 4-person golf scramble at Red Hawk Golf Course, to be held on Thursday, Sept. 19. Check in and lunch are a 12 noon followed by the shotgun start at 1 p.m. Sponsorships are $60 per person, $50 per hole sponsor or $290 for a team of four golfers and hole sponsorship.

The proceeds from the tournament will continue the "Stand Up" work of the foundation.
