Kids are king at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin

Something great is happening at the First Baptist Church at the corner of North Washington and East Park Streets in Du Quoin.

The church has organized what it is calling the "Kids' Clubhouse," a faith-based night of fun on Sunday nights from 6 p.m.-7:15 p.m.

Any child in Du Quoin is welcomed to participate.

Phillip Provart of the popular Main Street T's says the project has been put together by his wife Jean, others in the church and pastor Joe Wagner.

"We just wanted to do something for the community," Jean Provart says.

There is a light supper at 6 p.m. followed by Bible study, music, missions and recreation and games in the Family Life Center behind the church.

There is one group for children ages 3, 4 & 5 and a second group for children in Grades1 through 6.

Forty-nine volunteers have signed up to help with the project.

Church bus pickup to and from a child's home is available by calling 542-3705.

Kids Clubhouse will run for six weeks before the holidays and for 13 weeks from January until the Easter season.
