Former Du Quoin school superintendent here on Saturday for new book-signing

Du Quoin educator and former Middle School principal and Du Quoin Community Unit District 300 superintendent Dr. Freddie A. Banks Jr. will hold a book signing this Saturday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the Du Quoin Public Library, weather permitting, for his new book "A Determined Soul: With God You Can Make It."

The distinguished Dr. Banks, now 74, has had a very substantial career in both education and the ministry.

He is a man of many firsts. He is a lifelong educator, barrier breaker and administrator. After leaving Du Quoin he taught education administration at Eastern Illinois University, then in retirement is pastor of Samuel L. Brown Church. He returns to his native Du Quoin frequently.
