Young Guns: Du Quoin Chief of Police says ABC report mirrors problem here

Du Quoin Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer says an upcoming Friday night ABC special report called "Young Guns: a Diane Sawyer Special Report" mirrors a problem right here in Du Quoin.

The special takes a sharp look at children and guns, and parental responsibility. From families with children that keep guns in the house, to parents who have talked to their kids about the dangers of guns, the numbers below are a part of the larger conversation on protecting your loved ones.

Ellermeyer said the Du Quoin Police Department currently has three cases of gun locks that it is distributing to the public FREE of charge to help keep your guns safe and out of the hands of young children. All you have to do is stop by the police department on East Poplar Street and request them.

Ellermeyer encourages Du Quoin parents to watch "Young Guns: A Diane Sawyer Special" on Friday, Jan. 31, at 9 p.m. Central Standard Time.
