Respected Prairie Heart cardiologist Dr. Maria Falcone to present cardiology program at Marshall Browning

Heart disease is the number one cause of death for both men and women in the United States, claiming approximately 1 million lives annually. This year more than 920,000 Americans will have a heart attack; nearly half of them will occur without prior symptoms or warning signs.

February is "American Heart Month" and Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin invites you to a "Cardiology Update" presented by Dr. Maria Falcone, Cardiologist with Prairie Heart Institute Southern Illinois Healthcare, on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 12 noon. A complimentary lunch will be provided. The program is being co-sponsored by Marshall Browning Hospital and the SIH Second Act Program.

In addition, in order to alleviate the travel time for many cardiology patients in Perry County, Marshall Browning Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Falcone will now see patients in the hospital's specialty clinic three times a month. Edwin Gast, CEO, commented "every effort is made to offer as many services and specialists locally as possible. We are very pleased to provide additional clinics that allow patients to stay close to home for cardiology consultations."

"Invite a friend and join us as Dr. Falcone discusses the new cholesterol guidelines and other recent changes and improvements in cardiac care. Reservations are required by calling 877-480-4040."
