Du Quoin Fair to negotiate three-year contract for NATs

Du Quoin State Fair manager Shannon Woodworth Tuesday said the final numbers are in from Indianapolis-based Family Events for the 2014 Street Machine Nationals.

There were 2,801 participant cars and trucks and 24,593 admissions to the show.

That compares to 2,793 participants and 24,557 admissions in 2013.

"We had a lot of people nervous about the rain on Friday and on Sunday," said Woodworth. But, the weekend weather was kinder than the forecast. "I think we did great!" he said of the show.

"I think the Street Machines are back and here to stay," he said, hoping to nail down a three-year contract for the show this fall. "I am very confident we can reach a three-year deal," he said. "We have a program that works."
