WEEKEND: 3 Things to Do

KIDS DAY

May brings an exciting mix of free events to the Fort de Chartres State Historic Site in Prairie du Rocher, including a special children's day, a workshop on the craft of rope-making and a peek into the life of a French soldier and his wife.

Things get started May 7 with Kids' Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Volunteers will help children try their hand at archery, games, making rope and other learning opportunities. Kids can "enlist" in the French Marines and might even be named fort king or queen by finding the bean in the king's cake! There will also be a Kid's Day auction at 3 p.m.

A local Boy Scout troop will sell food and water throughout the day. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

SPRING FESTIVAL

St. Peter's Lutheran Church (900 Church St.) in Evansville will be having its Spring Festival on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bounce houses, craft fair, car show, silent auction, homemade desserts and ice cream will be available.

ALL ROADS LEAD TO SHILOH

The third annual "All Roads Lead to Shiloh" half marathon and half marathon relay will take place on Saturday, May 7.

The event benefits a scholarship fund in memory of Ethan Owen, Kailey Owen, Landan Owen and Brandan Owen. This year's "paying it forward" group is the Tara Smiles Organization.

The start of the race will be at the Salty Dawg in Chester at 9 a.m. and will finish at the Shiloh Hill Tavern in Campbell Hill.

Music will be provided by Bill & Todd's Excellent Adventure starting at 11:30 a.m. with Chris Murray & the County Line performing from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Food will be available for purchase for non-runners from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Scholarship and race awards will be presented at 1 p.m.
