WEEKEND: Things to Do

<p dir="ltr">RENDEZVOUS SCHEDULE

<p dir="ltr"><span>This is one of the largest Rendezvous in the Midwest and features 18th Century historically dressed participants, camps, crafts, music, entertainment, food, and shooting matches.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>This event is presented by Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres and Sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days and there is a $5 parking fee per day.</span>

<p dir="ltr">Sunday, June 7

<p dir="ltr"><span>8:00A - Mass (Stage) Protestant Service (Food Court)</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>12:00P-2:30 - Skillet Toss, open to the public west of the Food Court</span>

<p dir="ltr">Both Days

<p dir="ltr"><span>The Peacocks Band, The Booneslick Strings, The Camp Followers Band, and the Clockwork Clown will perform at various times during the day.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Eighteenth century swordplay will be demonstrated by Robert Bruce Sikes of the Black Knights Fight Group of St. Louis. Cannon firing demonstrations will occur on the hour.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The fort's master gardener will interpret the site's historic kitchen garden.</span>

<p dir="ltr">Music and Entertainment

<p dir="ltr"><span>Throughout both days a number of groups will perform periodically:</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The Rendezvous is presented by Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres and sponsored by Les Amis du Fort de Chartres, with additional event site support by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.</span>

<p dir="ltr">CANNED FOOD FLY

<p dir="ltr"><span>The Breezy Hill R/C Flyers Canned Food Fly will take place on Saturday, June 4, starting at 8 a.m.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>This event is to benefit the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry. Pilot registration and open flying begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until ?? Attendance prizes will be drawn all day.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>A 50/50 drawing (made at 3 p.m.) will also be available and concessions will be on-site.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Spectators are welcome and free introductory flights are offered. Donations are encouraged, but not required.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>There is a landing fee of five canned or non-perishable items.</span>

<p dir="ltr">SUMMER FUN

<p dir="ltr"><span>A summer fun water event will take place at the Cohen Complex on Saturday, June 4, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Six inflatable water slides will be featured with $5 armbands. For more information, contact Chester Recreation Director Patti Carter at 826-1430.</span>

<p dir="ltr">EAGLEFEST

<p dir="ltr"><span>The Chester Eaglefest takes place Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>On Friday, Scattergun Jack will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Saturday, the double-elimination Eaglefest Bag Tournament starts at 4:30 p.m. (registration at 4 p.m., $20 per team and limited to the first 12 teams in each division).</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>After the tournament, the Avery Hill Band will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Also Saturday is a CHS Basketball Hoopshot Challenge at 3 p.m. Free throw, 3-point shot and partner shoot competitions will be featured with the winners to receive awards.</span>
