WEEKEND: Things to Do

<p class="p1">WIZARDFEST

<p class="p1">In honor of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child's July 31 release, the Steeleville Area Public Library cordially invites you to attend Wizard Fest on Saturday, July 23.

<p class="p1">Wizardfest opens to wizards and muggles at 9 a.m. and continues throughout the day with games of Quidditch, a Potter movie marathon, sorting hat, buttered beer (non-alcoholic) and much more.

<p class="p1">All age groups are invited to participate in this family fun program, but please bring your own broom.

<p class="p1">SUMMER FUN

<p class="p1">A summer fun water event will take place at the Cohen Complex on Saturday, June 4, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

<p class="p1">Six inflatable water slides will be featured with $5 armbands. For more information, contact Chester Recreation Director Patti Carter at 826-1430.

<p class="p1">CHEERLEADER FUNDRAISER

<p class="p1">The Chester High School Cheerleaders are holding their annual fundraiser on Saturday, July 23, at the Chester Eagles.

<p class="p1">A volleyball tournament will take place starting at 9 a.m., while a silent auction will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

<p class="p1">An all-you-can-eat chicken and fish dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The dinner includes fish or chicken, french fries, baked beans, dessert and lemonade or water.

<p class="p1">For an additional $2, you can add a garden salad with your choice of dressing.

<p class="p1">Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children age 8 and under. Carryouts and delivery will be available the day of the fundraiser.

<p class="p1">SUMMER BALL

<p dir="ltr"><span>On July 23, Les Amis du Fort de Chartres hosts its "Friends of the Fort Summer Ball," a fundraiser for the group, which supports programming and improvement projects at the historic site.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The ball features 18th century music and dance calling by Cousin Curtis and the Cash Rebates, with a special performance by Les Danseurs de Fort de Chartres.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Period dress is encouraged but not required.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The dance runs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Prairie du Rocher American Legion, located at 509 Henry St.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Participants can bring their own food, but any alcohol must be purchased at the bar.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The suggested donation is $20 a person, with all funds going to the non-profit Les Amis du Fort de Chartres for its work at the site.</span>
