Over 1,000 musicians to perform in the Mardi Gras parade, field show Saturday

Pinckneyville Mardi Gras Field Show & Parade Contest will be held this Saturday, Oct. 26 as part of Mardi Gras.

Over 1,000 music students will perform in the annual festival.

The 22nd Annual Mardi Gras Field Show contest begins at 1 p.m. at Pinckneyville Community High School with 14 bands performing on Quillman Field. The schedule is:

1:14 - Nashville High School - A

1:28 - Wesclin High School - A

1:42 - Anna-Jonesboro High School - A

1:56 - Sesser-Valier High School - A

2:10 - Break

2:24 - Massac County High School - AA

2:38 - Mascoutah High School - AA

2:52 - Freeburg High School - AA

3:06 - Break

3:20 - Mehlville High School - AAA

3:34 - Hazelwood Central High School - AAA

3:48 - Northwest High School - AAA

4:02 - McCraken County High School - AAA

4:16 - Belleville West High School - AAA

4:30 - Pinckneyville High School - Exhibition

4:45 - Awards

Admission is $5 for Adults and $3 for Students.

The evening Mardi Gras Parade will feature 15 bands including the National Guard Band out of Springfield, Illinois.

The Grand Prize of $500 to the highest combined field and parade score is provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Du Quoin VFW.
