Tim Davis takes SIU rehab teaching post

Marshall Browning Hospital sports medicine specialist Tim Davis is leaving that position this weekend to accept a teaching position in the physical therapy program at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

His work there begins on Monday through the Allied Health program at SIU-C. Davis, 41, has been a staff member at Marshall Browning for 15 years. Wife Mandie is a substitute teacher at the Du Quoin Elementary School. They have four children, ages 13, 12, 10 and 8.

Davis is a certified athletic trainer and has initiated many sports medicine education programs for athletes and coaches at the Du Quoin High School and is the trainer for the Du Quoin Indians.

The teaching position is nine months out of the year. He hopes to continue his work as trainer for the Indians and hopes to continue a part-time relationship with the Rehabilitation Services Department at Marshall Browning. Those plans have not been formalized.

He will remain a board member of Du Quoin Baseball, Inc.
