Cross Country Runner Remembers Fallen Troops in So. Ill.

Mike Ehredt of Project America Run was in Du Quoin Monday and Tuesday. He is running from Canada to the Gulf in approximately 81 days, placing a flag every mile to honor a soldier killed in Afghanistan. Each flag bears the name, rank, age and hometown of a soldier. Ehredt ran from Oregon to Maine in 2010, a mile for every soldier killed in Iraq. He runs alone and will finish outside Galveston, Texas. Ehredt essentially runs a marathon a day (26 miles). Host families pick him up at a designated spot then return him there the next morning to begin again. He finished Monday afternoon near Sunfield United Methodist Church on U.S. 51.
