Gym-sized Valentine for beloved Pinckneyville math teacher
All of Pinckneyville Community High School-- faculty, staff and students-- worked together to send a very special valentine to a valued math instructor Tuesday morning. Dr. Nancy Blechle has been battling renal cancer for several years. The valentine, an expression of appreciation and support, illustrated the impact she has had on PCHS. Instead of the usual sea of blue and white, Thomas Gymnasium was filled with green and white, the colors of the renal cancer awareness ribbon. The video message included a chant: "Stay strong, Fight hard, That's the key, Look all around you, We love you Doc B." The video portion concluded with a gym-sized heart made from blue and white paper. Blechle's fellow faculty members held the sign above the heart. Students and staff also signed cards to be sent to Dr. Blechle, who continued to inspire students via video messaging, even while undergoing chemotherapy.
