WEEKEND: Things to Do
<p class="p1">CHURCH PICNIC
<p class="p1">St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Wine Hill will be having its annual picnic on Saturday, August 20.
<p class="p1">Games will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the Cake Walk at 7 p.m. Baked goods and homemade crafts will be available.
<p class="p1">Fried chicken, BBQ pork, fish sandwiches, hamburgers, potato salad, coleslaw, pie and cake will be served from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
<p class="p1">SAVE THE 'ANIMAL' BASH
<p class="p1">Water Street Inc. in Evansville will be having a "Save The 'Animal' Bash" on Friday, Aug. 19, starting at 7 p.m. to benefit Tracy Everright, who recently was the victim of a burglary.
<p class="p1">Organizers will auction off a basket of booze and a fireworks package worth $900. A 50/50 raffle will be drawn at 10 p.m.
<p class="p1">TIMMERZ RUN
<p class="p1">The 10th annual run in memory of Tim "Timmer" Hartman will take place Saturday, Aug. 20.
<p class="p1">Sign ups are at Salty Dawg in Chester from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the run to end at Chester American Legion.
<p class="p1">Entertainment will be provided by Kickin' Kountry. In a special announcement on Facebook on Monday, the Hartman family wrote that it may be the final formal ride.
<p class="p2">"Although it its been a tough decision, we hope you all can join us for this last big event," a post on the event's Facebook page said. "Please share this so we can go out with a bang and hopefully have the biggest one yet.
<p class="p2">"We feel this event has been very beneficial to many different groups in need. Because of your amazing support, this benefit has donated over $60,000 to Shriner's hospital, also many scholarships, ABATE and others in need.
<p class="p2">"We will continue to gather together every year, but as of now for upcoming years we will not be selling shirts or providing a meal, please stay tuned for updates next year."

<p class="p2">JAKES DAY
<p dir="ltr"><span>The Randolph County Cutters and Strutters of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be hosting the sixth annual JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) Day on August 20 at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Registration is from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Each youth participating will receive a custom-designed JAKES Day T-shirt.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>Registration is free, as the $10 fee is paid for by the Illinois state chapter of the NWTF.</span>
<p dir="ltr"><span>JAKES Day is designed to youth 17-and-younger have a day of fun participating in hands-on activities.</span>
